About Katharina

I am passionate about quality and compassionate mental healthcare.  I believe in holding a safe and caring environment to help clients come to understand and accept their most authentic selves, while helping them process and explore life’s hurts that take away from living more fully.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of helping contexts, including caregiving for older adults, individuals struggling with substance use issues, and a personal chef for people with specific health concerns and needs.  Through these experiences, I realized that I wanted to work with individuals and families in a more formal and trained therapeutic capacity.  It was with tremendous luck and privilege that I was able to pursue a graduate degree in psychology and become a therapist.

I received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Irvine in 2006, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University in 2014, and practice in California as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  I also completed EMDR Basic Training (Part 1, 2, & 3) through the Parnell Institute for EMDR in 2020, and DBT Intensive training in 2021 through Behavior Tech.

I am a member of CAMFT — the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
