Services
I offer individual and family therapy appointments online or in-person.
Individual Therapy
My role is to help guide and assist you in your process of self-discovery so that you can connect to your own internal resources, insight, and capacity for growth and healing. You may have a specific concern or be seeking therapy for personal growth and self-exploration. Whatever your goals are, we can work together to help you understand yourself on a deeper level, identifying core beliefs and how they came to be, understanding your behaviors, motivations, and learning about your relationships and how they contribute to both your resilience and challenges. My hope is to help you gain clarity and insight into your true wants, needs, and values, so that you can live in greater alignment with the person you want to be.
Common issues that I help individuals with include, but are not limited to, the following:
Depression, loneliness, and sadness
Anxiety
PTSD and complex/developmental trauma
Understanding dysfunctional upbringings and their impact
Grief and loss
Relationship issues and family difficulties
Life transitions
LGBTQ+ issues
Recovery from substance use issues
Self-esteem challenges
Family Therapy
Family therapy can offer a beautiful opportunity for greater closeness and understanding. It is a powerful and heart-opening experience to engage with parents/caregivers and children as they move from pain, confusion, disconnection, invalidation, and misunderstanding, to greater closeness, understanding, and empathy. My role is to help guide the process and facilitate communication, often through slowing the pace and allowing people to connect to their deeper feelings, wants, and needs, and then share vulnerably to receptive ears. I am an active participant that listens closely and non-judgmentally, reflects underlying dynamics and emotions that may be causing challenges, and interrupts automatic patterns of reactivity so that they can be replaced with thoughtful dialogue and understanding. While love and hurt inevitably coexist in close and meaningful relationships, the bonds of love can be restored as sources of strength and joy, rather than a source of mostly ongoing hurt.
Fees, Insurance, & Cancellation Policy
Fees & Insurance
Psychotherapy is an investment. In order for us to set realistic treatment goals and priorities, it is important to evaluate what resources you have available to pay for your treatment. If we commit to working together, my current standard fee is $200 per 50-minute session. For family work, a 50-minute session can be adequate, but if we determine that 80 minutes is more appropriate, the fee is $300 per session. Sessions are generally held once a week, although that may be adjusted to meet your particular needs once we have started working together and have discussed. I do offer a reduced fee based on need for a certain number of clients. Feel free to contact me if you would like to know whether I have any reduced fee openings.
I understand that these costs can be an obstacle to receiving professional support. I am credentialed with certain types of insurance. If I am a contracted provider with your insurance company, I am using Alma — a third-party — to assist with the operations side of accepting insurance, including such things as checking eligibility and billing. The amount of your co-payment (copay), co-insurance, and/or deductible depends on your specific insurance plan, which you are responsible for knowing. You are also responsible for verifying and understanding the limits of your insurance coverage. Please visit my Alma page to see a full list of insurances that I accept.
If I am not a contracted provider with your insurance company, but you have a PPO plan, your plan may provide you with reimbursement for mental health services. I am considered an, “Out-of-network” provider for such plans. I can provide you with a Superbill that you would then submit to your insurance company for some amount of reimbursement. It is important to understand that you are responsible for full payment of my fees, not your insurance company.
Prior to your first session with me, it is helpful to check with your insurance company to find out your coverage for therapy services with an out-of-network provider. The following questions can be helpful to ask so that you understand what is covered:
Do I have mental health coverage?
What percentage of my bill will be covered for services obtained by an out-of-network provider?
How many sessions will be covered per calendar year?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
Are Telehealth sessions reimbursed at the same rate? If not, what is covered?
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if not received at least 48 hours in advance. This is necessary because I make a time commitment to you and hold that time exclusively for you. Depending on circumstances, if you need to reschedule with less than 48 hours notice, I may find another time during the week to reschedule the appointment, in which case you will not be charged twice. If you are late for a session, you remain responsible for the full fee. Also note that if you are more than 15 minutes late and do not let me know in advance with my acknowledgment, I will stop a Telehealth session or may leave my office, and consider it a no-show, which is thus subject to the full fee. Therefore, please remember to cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance.
